Marina Romashko
Embracing the Surf Dance of Life
Marina Romashko is the Founder of Big Idea Lab, a leading New York-based coaching platform that creates customized productivity and leadership styles for clients seeking to bring their ideas to life. Her approach is unique as it combines productivity strategies, mindfulness practices, and healing energy work to help her clients focus on what is most important.
Marina grew up in the city of Minsk, Belarus and spent summers at her grandparents’ farm. This experience allowed her to feel connected to nature and explore nearby forests, fields, and lakes. During her high school years, she became enamored with theater and everyone thought she would pursue an acting career.
Instead, Marina chose to study economics and computer science at Radio Physics and Electronics faculty at Belarus State University. She graduated in 1999, and despite securing a high level job at a bank in Belarus, she decided to move to New York City on an exchange program.
The next year, Marina landed her first dream job in a computer shop in New Jersey and made extra money at Penn Station selling coffee for $5/hour. Her early experiences in New York were full of wonderful people and great learning. She then spent more than seven years in the corporate world as a project manager in the financial industry.
In 2008, during the Great Recession, Marina lost her job. This was the springboard to her becoming an entrepreneur. She started her company, Big Idea Lab, focused on helping her clients with project management and leadership development.
Spirituality and growth has always been a driving force for Marina. Her spiritual journey began more than 20 years ago through yoga and positive psychology. One of Marina’s gifts is bringing together opposites in dynamic balance. Being and doing, feminine and masculine. Energy and time management. She believes to be a whole person living from their highest potential, each individual needs to find balance in their unique dynamic dance of opposite energies inside of them.
Over the years Marina has embraced the opportunity to study a variety of philosophies and practices including A Course in Miracles, Sivananda Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Vipassana practitioner, and Gurdjueff work via Mr. Nyland.
All of this work led her to Modern Mystery School. The Modern Mystery School is an international community of Light Workers, initiated in an ancient tradition of service, compassion, and empowerment. The school provides a path of progression that helps you “know thyself” and achieve your greatest potential in life.
Currently, Marina is a second level Initiate with the Modern Mystery School where she is a Life Activation Practitioner and Energy Healer. She works with individuals to guide them in achieving their highest potential to be in service to the world. She is currently on a path of progression that includes studying the Universal Hermetic Ray Kabbalah. She is preparing to become a Ritual Master and second level Healer Initiate.
Influenced by the work of Will Parfitt, she studied Psychosynthesis psychology, which taught her how to combine advanced psychology tools with ancient energy healing knowledge.
Her mindfulness inspiration comes from studying with teachers living all over the world. Marina recently graduated from a two-year training on Mindfulness Meditation, based on Insight meditation (Vipassana) with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. In addition, Marina’s work is influenced by Sebene Selassie.
Our heart is a bridge to our soul, spirit, and body and there is no better teacher who expresses how to live from our heart as Mary Magdalene. Marina is currently studying and practicing with spiritual teachers Cynthia Bourgeault, Meggan Watersson, and Aletheia Pistis Sophia.
Marina’s latest interests include exploring the wonderful world of herbs and flowers, inspired by knowing the essence of her last name, Romashko, which means chamomile.
She currently splits her time between Brooklyn, New York and the Rockaways. She has a natural calling to the ocean and has spent the last several months learning how to ride the waves. Marina is embodying her mantra, “Surf Dance of Life” bringing together her two favorite practices – dancing and surfing.
