Whenever I give a presentation about Be an Idea Leader, I cover three
main points on what makes our clients successful. One of them is
knowing that isolation is a killer. I constantly reinforce that in
order for an idea to succeed it must draw from people around it.
The power of “we” is tremendous and last month I saw it’s full benefit in two separate situations. The first was at our February iDEA BOOT CAMP http://beanidealeader.wpengine.com/index.php?/BIL/idea-boot-camp.html.
Six clients came together with goals that varied from starting a
non-profit, to writing a comedy sketch, to completing a business
website. The collective understanding that five other people were
going through the same experiences of fear and of dealing with time
constraints helped them overcome their challenges with more enthusiasm
then they had previously encountered.
The second time I saw the power of “we” in action was during an
EnlightenNext seminar “Women forging the future. Call to evolve” that I
attended. Over the past year I was looking into the idea of women
leaders and how through mentoring women can help one another grow and
fulfill leaderships roles in society. Even though I had had personal
experiences of women working collaboratively rather than competitively
I was still unable to put the pieces together on how to bring this to
a bigger audience.
During the seminar I had heard women express the same challenge – the
need to move from competition to collaboration. For me knowing that my
goal aligned with that of these other women’s was enough. I realized
that we were in it together and that while we still did not know ‘how’
we understood ‘why’ it was necessary and collectively we would find
To this end my friend Holly Mandel and I are planning to start a
series of talks very soon and I will keep you updated of the outcome.
Alone I could not see how I would achieve my goal, but having a
partner opened up a whole new world of possibilities.
The morale of today’s blog is do not feel that you have to go it
alone. Sign up for a group coaching program see what we offer http://beanidealeader.wpengine.com/index.php?/BIL/idea-boot-camp.html or join a Master Mind
Group . Get a coach and consider teaming up with an accountability
partner. Some people are great at working alone and some of us need
others to be by our side in order to move forward.
If you ever feel stuck with your idea, project, business – remember
the power of “we”.
